Survivor

I was with my sisters watching survivor yesterday night. On this challenge, the survivors were tested on their memory and the ability to listen. The first challenge, the women won hands down. On the second challenge, the survivors were blindfolded and only one person was appointed to tell the blind survivors where to walk and pull the string to get a sack filled with puzzle pieces.

The women failed at this while the men were undoubtedly, the faster ones. In the end they both reached the point where using the puzzle pieces obtained from the sack, they have to piece together a tree. Of course, the men reached faster and wasted no time on the puzzle. The women reached slower but gained speed when doing the puzzle.

The appointed one who was giving directions was the same one doing the puzzle. So while one was doing the puzzle, the rest of the survivors were looking on at the back.

And here's the difference:

The men were quiet and continued looking at their fellow team member work on the puzzle by himself.

The women were giving inputs and pointing to their fellow member on where to put the puzzle piece.

In the end the women won.

In relation to this, thing, about women empowerment. I agree to a certain extent that YES we need women empowerment to show the men that YES we can do everything by ourselves. And also, to ensure that the men do not take advantage of us women - applies to men that still thinks that women are weak.

However, I dislike women that regards themselves highly, too high until they become almost like a feminist. Sure, you can prove yourself resourceful, intelligent, nurturing, all the qualities that men ACTUALLY LIKE to see in a woman, but don't go all I don't need a man, because at the end of the day, which woman who calls herself a woman doesn't want a child? And face it, you need men to do that. Or at least their sperm.

I think that the women CAN lessen the man's ego by going all women empowerment but not too much. Just lessen his ego, not ruin it. You won't see yourself married and stuff -.-

As for the men who thinks women are weak, oh face it. They're the ones who will, undeniably, nurture you. Or your future children.

That's why most counselors/psychologists are women.

Lazy Saturday. Lazy Sunday. Lazy Monday. And then it's back to Saturday.

Honestly, I should be studying for my econs. But as always i'm being complacent. It's on the 27th anyway. So to sum it all up, i've been doing nothing much.

Except touring Ubi Techpark where i'll be working. And later meetings for a talk. No idea why I wanted to be in the organising committee.

That's about it. I know my life should be more exciting, but recently i'm becoming a no-lifer. Sigh

On the plus point, I've read another one of Nicholas Sparks' books, this one is titled 'At First Sight'. I admit that this book didn't make me cry. BUT tears were lingering in my eyes. Basically this book is about a couple who got engaged extremely fast (this is cause the male character Jeremy, knew he fell in love with this woman named Lexie, and somehow knew he'd love her forever) and then faced the tough times of trying to trust one another. Then they got married and did what young married couples usually do. And then came another complication which I'm not going to say.

But as always, its a good book. It gives a short insight about what the author thinks men and woman are thinking/feeling. There's this short passage I like especially:

I know men. Let me tell you, they can be rip-roaring mad or frustrated or worried about work or life, but in the end, they're pretty simple to figure out if you know what makes them tick. And one of the things that make them tick is an almost desperate need to feel appreciated and admired. You make them feel that way, and you'll be amazed at what they'll do for you.

Of course, they want great sex and want you to keep the house clean and neat and organised while looking beautiful and still having the energy to do fun things together, but admiration and appreciation are right up there.

And another one:

He didn't believe in a God who sifted through prayers, answering some and ignoring others, no matter how unworthy or worthy a person might be. Instead, he preferred to believe in a God who bestowed all people with gifts and abilities and placed them in an imperfect world; only then was faith tested, only then could faith be earned.

About marriage:

Like I said, you're in this together. Men have certain needs, women have different needs; that's the way it was hundreds of years ago, and that's the way it's going to be hundreds of years from now. If you both realize that, and you both work on meeting each other's needs, you'll have a good marriage. And part of that, for both of you, is trust. In the end, it's that simple.

I think by now you know why I didn't cry when I read this book.
